Goodguys 2023 Hall of Fame Road Tour – Day 1
We are off and rolling on the 2023 Goodguys Hall of Fame Road Tour! Excited participants rolled into Loveland, Colorado, on Thursday to get checked in, clean up their rides and give them a quick once-over before hitting the road for a week! The Tour will be tackling huge altitude gains across the Rockies, through the Wasatch Range in Utah, the high desert of Nevada and over the Sierra Nevada mountains before descending into the Pleasanton, California, to wrap up at the West Coast Nationals.
Once everyone settled in, we were treated to a tour of Pinkee’s Rod Shop followed by dinner and a pint at Mash Lab Brewery and Kitchen right next door. It was great to see familiar faces and a lot of new ones and these tours always bring a diverse group of hot rods. This journey could be a challenge with the mountain climbs, extreme temps and miles – we’ll see how this group of 50+ classics will do.
On Friday morning the tour made their way to Estes Park and on to the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway for an absolutely stunning drive. Everywhere you look there was an amazing view and photo opportunity! As we made our way south, we detoured over to the Shelby American Collection outside of Boulder for an incredible study of Shelby Cobras, Mustangs, GTs and Shelby history.
Back on the road we traversed more mountains before a stop in Arvada to check out the Clive Cussler Museum. The famous author has an eclectic collection of over 100 vintage automobiles ranging from a 1906 Stanley Steamer to a 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz.
It was a great stop before calling it a day in the quaint ski and beer town of Breckenridge. A perfect place to regale in the day’s drive and celebrate with a toast to our founder Gary Meadors on what would’ve been his 84th Birthday. Enjoy a few pics and come back tomorrow for more from Day 2!
