Friday First Look! Goodguys 25th Grundy Insurance Colorado Nationals presented by Griot’s Garage

The Goodguys 25th Grundy Insurance Colorado Nationals presented by Griot’s Garage is officially underway here in Loveland at The Ranch Events Complex and we had a fantastic opening day! A beautiful venue, perfect weather, and LOADS of cool cars & trucks sprawled across the grounds were what was on tap as we kicked off a quarter century of Goodguys Good Times in Colorado.

In addition to cool cars and trucks, we welcomed a bunch of cool young automotive enthusiasts out to the event today as part of the Goodguys / ASE Education Foundation Careers in Hot Rodding program presented by WyoTech. We started this program back in March at our Spring Lone Star Nationals event and picked it back up now that school is back in session after the summer break.

About 150 senior students from four different local high schools were in attendance and learned about the various career paths and options available in the aftermarket automotive industry from shop owners, manufacturers, media individuals, and more. These youngsters were eager to learn of the many different opportunities available to start a career in the hot rodding world!

Back in the showgrounds the hot rods, customs, muscle cars, cool cruisers and trick trucks kept flowing in and before we knew it Friday was hoppin’! The vendor areas were jamming with foot traffic throughout the day and the CPP AutoCross as well as the Nitro Thunderfest exhibition kept the engines revvin’ and the ground shakin’.

We’re about to pack our things up and hit the road to head to Pinkee’s Rod Shop and Mash Lab Brewery for their rockin’ TGIF party! Stay tuned to our social media channels throughout the weekend for more content and check back here Sunday for the full Weekend Rewind!

Director of Media & Marketing

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
