Bring A Trailer Featured Vehicle of February 2022 – 1970 Triumph TR6
This 1970 Triumph TR6 is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Damson over a black interior. Equipment includes a black soft top, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player, and 15″ steel wheels. The car was sold on BaT in November 2017, offered again in November 2018, and subsequently acquired by the seller in 2020.
Service performed under previous ownership reportedly included replacement of the weatherstripping, rear suspension bushings, rear lever shocks, and tires. Work completed by the seller is said to have included a repaint, refurbishment of the brakes and front suspension, rebuilds of the clutch cylinders, a tune-up, and an oil change. This TR6 is now offered with an owner’s handbook, parts receipts, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
This is a re-list after the vehicle previously sold on BaT in December 2021 and the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle. The winner has been banned from future participation on BaT and their buyer’s fee was not refunded.
Steel 15″ wheels wear aluminum trim rings and are mounted with 205/70 Sumitomo Doral tires showing 2017 date codes. The rear lever shocks, rear suspension bushings, and differential bushings are said to have been replaced under previous ownership, and a recent front suspension overhaul reportedly included rebuilding the trunnions and replacing the control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, ball joints, and shocks. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and recent brake system service reportedly included replacing the following:
- Master cylinder and booster
- Front rotors and pads
- Front wheel bearings
- Rear shoes
- Rear wheel cylinders
- Rear brake hardware
The cabin features bucket seats wearing replacement black vinyl covers joined by matching door panels. Amenities include a wood dashboard and shift knob along with a Pioneer AM/FM CD stereo, a heater, and three-point seatbelts. The rearview mirror and pedal cluster bushings have been replaced, and the seller notes wrinkles in the door panels.
A three-spoke Luisi steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles. The seller notes that the speedometer cable has been replaced and that the speedometer works erratically. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.5-liter inline-six was rated at 104 horsepower and 142 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller reports that a recent tune-up included changing the oil, adjusting the valves, and replacing the condenser, ignition coil, distributor points, ignition wires, and spark plugs.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the clutch cylinders and hoses have been replaced.
