Super Snake, Shelby Strikes Twice with 750 Horsepower
Shelby American decided to hit us with a double-whammy of their news about the Shelby Super Snake wide body Mustang concept and Shelby F-150 Super Snake street truck. Both are awesome in their respective camps whether your loyalties lean towards track focused muscle cars or brawny trucks that can haul more than just the booty from a trip to Costco.
Shelby already has a 700 horsepower F-150 truck in the line-up. The Super Snake delivers 750 horsepower using Ford’s iconic 5.0-liter V8 engine with a supercharger. This stomps all over the F-150 Raptor, which is only rated at a mere 450 horsepower in comparison.
Sharp eyes will recognize the unique Shelby styling cues. The Super Snake street machine features a new hood, rockers, spoilers, grills, rear bumper panel and tonneau cover. Additional styling cues also include Shelby Super Snake stripes and badges. Inside, the theme continues across the seats, dash, and floor.

Available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations starting at an MSRP of $96,880,
only 150 total F-150 Super Snake street trucks will be offered by select Ford dealers for the 2017 model year.
The Mustang wide body concept began with the popular 50th Anniversary Shelby Super Snake. Powered by a supercharged Ford 5.0L V8 engine, Shelby American added a fully adjustable coilover suspension system, bigger brakes, hardened wheel studs, stronger spindles, and hubs, as well as a more aggressive wheel and tire package to put all 750 horsepower to the road.
“Adding approximately four inches to the car’s rear track and two and half to the front, opened up new opportunities to maximize handling,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations and Chief Test Driver. “The fully adjustable coil over suspension and the enormous Brembo braking system, along with wider wheels and tires significantly change the car’s driving dynamics. This provides more grip for later braking and earlier acceleration out of corners. It will deliver more communication to the driver and better absorb track imperfections. The wide body Super Snake concept is every road racer’s dream.”
