Friday First Look! Goodguys 25th Summit Racing Nationals Presented by PPG

It’s early July in Ohio, and car enthusiasts all around the country know what that means – it’s time for a big-time Goodguys weekend as the 25th Summit Racing Nationals Presented by PPG kicks off in Columbus! This is The Big One – the weekend we’ve been waiting for all season!

Goodguys really knows how to build up to our biggest event of the year. First, we hosted a spectacular Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals last weekend in Des Moines. Then, several dozen vintage rides participated in the annual Cruise to Columbus meandering from Des Moines to Ohio. And on Thursday, we got our gears turnin’ and wheels rollin’ during a laid-back Poker Run around the Columbus area followed by a rockin’ Kickoff Party in the Crowne Plaza parking lot.

Which leads us to Friday morning, when thousands of rods, customs, street machines, muscle cars, trucks, classics, and just plain bitchin’ vintage rides rolled into the Ohio Expo Center. Several dozen of those vehicles lined up to compete for two of Goodguys’ biggest prizes – Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year and PPG Street Machine of the Year. It’s looking like another year of tough competition for these two Top 12 awards, and anticipation is already building for the special Saturday evening awards ceremony.

The Saturday evening festivities will also include the unveiling of the 2023/2024 Goodguys Grand Prize Giveaway ’32 Ford coupe that was just completed at Streamline Custom Designs. On top of that, we’ll also be awarding winners from the annual Goodguys New Product Competition. It’s all part of an active weekend that’s jam-packed with great activities, from Goodguys CPP AutoCross racing, to a smokin’ Burnout Competition, ground-shaking Nitro Thunderfest exhibitions, and a spectacular indoor display of past Top 12 Of The Year winners that help chronicle Goodguys’ 40-year history.

Simply put, this is a weekend you don’t want to miss! Get yourself to Columbus if you can and join in on all the automotive fun. If not, then stay tuned for updates on FuelCurve.com or on all the Goodguys and Fuel Curve social media channels.
