Friday First Look! 24th Summit Racing Nationals presented by PPG

Here we go, folks – it’s time for The Big One! We have officially kicked off the 24th Summit Racing Nationals presented by PPG and fired up the Goodguys Good Times here at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus!

This summer tradition has long been the highlight of the Goodguys calendar, and we can already tell this is going to be a standout year for this storied event. Anticipation has been building all week and we got a taste of the fun to come during a relaxed Poker Run around the Columbus area on Thursday, setting the stage for a fantastic weekend.

A short morning rain shower failed to dampen spirits on Friday – the rods, customs, classics, and cruisers still arrived in droves to fill the facility, and few people worried about the sporadic sprinkles. And we had a fantastic turnout of contenders for annual PPG Street Machine of the Year and Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year competitions inside the Celeste building. These are always hard-fought categories and there’s sure to be much speculation and debate before the Top Five finalists and overall winners are revealed Saturday evening.

Speaking of reveals, Roadster Shop will be uncovering the freshly finished Goodguys 2022/2023 Grand Prize Giveaway ’88 Chevy pickup on Saturday evening, and we’ll also be awarding winners in the annual New Product Competition. It’s all part of an action-packed weekend that will also include exciting Goodguys CPP AutoCross competition, multiple Nitro Thunderfest exhibitions, hundreds of vendor displays, the monumental Mustang Madness indoor display, an expansive swap meet, Burnout Competition, giving away the Goolsby Customs-built ’85 Squarebody truck, and so much more!

We don’t call it The Big One for nothing! Come join us in Columbus this weekend if you can. And if you can’t make it here, stay tuned to Goodguys and Fuel Curve social media and online resources for updates from this epic summer extravaganza!
