PPG Mini Hood painting contest

PPG to Showcase Student Painter Skills at Goodguys 35th RaceDeck West Coast Nationals

PPG is pleased to announce sponsorship of a mini hood painting skills contest involving teams of student paint technicians from local Northern California high school vocational schools and junior colleges. A total of six mini hood designs will be showcased in the PPG tent at the Goodguys 35th West Coast Nationals event in Pleasanton, California, August 26-28.

PPG Mini Hood contestThe mini hood painting took place from April to May and included student teams from three junior colleges and three regional occupational centers in the Pleasanton area. The automotive refinish paint was donated by PPG. PPG’s goal with the contest is to engage the students enrolled in collision repair programs and support the value of skilled trades.

The mini hood painting contest will be judged by Goodguys show attendees, PPG personnel, and experienced custom painters. Four winners will be selected at 2:20pm on Sunday, August 28. Each winning team will receive a PPG Best Use of Color trophy for the following categories.

All participating students will receive tickets to visit the Goodguys 35th RaceDeck West Coast Nationals to see their work on display and experience the exciting world of custom refinish. PPG invites you to visit their booth to see the latest finish collections and vote in the contest.
