#9 24th Summit Racing Nationals Weekend Rewind

Sometimes you just gotta go big. Real big! That’s just what Goodguys does every July at The Big One – the Summit Racing Nationals presented by PPG. And we had a double dozen doozy of a good time this year in Columbus during the 24th edition of this big-time mid-summer celebration!

As we think back, the Ohio Expo Center was rockin’ all weekend long when we brought Goodguys Good Times to town with thousands of the coolest rides in the country. From vintage-style hot rods and cool customs, to muscle machines, trick trucks, stylish classics, and even ’80s and ’90s specialty rides, this was a three-day celebration of the finest iron to ever cruise down American roads.

We call it “The Big One” for a reason. It continues to have most registered vehicles for any Goodguys event, huge spectator crowds enjoying a summertime outing, a massive display of vendors, the crowing of the yearly Street Machine of the Year and Street Rod of the Year Top 12 Awards, and heck…we give away an awesome vehicle each year and debut the following years giveaway as well. If you haven’t attended a Columbus Goodguys event yet…add it to your schedule! (Here’s the 2023 Summit Racing Nationals event details.)

Director of Media & Marketing

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
