LS Fest West – GM Goodness from Sin City
Holley LS Fest West is exactly that. A three-day LS (or the newer LT platform) festival held in the Western confines of the United States – Las Vegas Motor Speedway to be exact. When the promoters finally decided to bring this eight-cylinder circus out West for the first time last year they promised that 2018 would be bigger and badder. They delivered on their promise.
For those very few of you who never heard of Holley LS Fest West before, it’s kind of like a run what you brung event as long as it’s powered by an LS powerplant. Do you have a 1977 Ford Pinto with an LS swap? Bring it. Do you have a 2000 HP twin turbo LS powered Pro-Mod drag car? Bring it. Maybe, you have a Robby Gordon stadium super truck? Bring that too.
Walking around the massive complex you’ll see things that you typically don’t see at most car related events. Ever curious how much horsepower you were putting down to your rear wheels? A chassis dyno is on site to tell you just that. There’s even a Poker Run for registered participants to prove their vehicles are not only built for the track but can be driven on the street as well with awards given to the winners.
If your idea of fun is doing nonstop burnouts until your tires melt to the ground than head on over to Mr. Chow’s Playground. Don’t like playing alone? Then invite some of your buddies to join in on the fun as you drift in tandem. Want a chance to possibly be on Hoonigan Live? Well, walk on over to Drift City where you can witness participants exhibit their skills as they try to impress the crowd to hopefully win a set of much-needed tires. Both were fun additions to the 2018 festival.
So, if watching drivers get every ounce of glorious horsepower and every last thread of meat out of their tires by forming a massive cloud of smoke with that LS glory screaming loud you’re home here. It’s amazing what this V8 engine has done for hot rodding. It has successfully established an entire culture!
