Friday First Look! Goodguys 37th West Coast Nationals

The Goodguys 37th West Coast Nationals kicked off today like a rocket as thousands of hot rodders rolled into the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California. It always feels great to return to the place where Goodguys events got their start and to see so many great friends, and make even more, while checking out the amazing cars from the northern California region (and beyond!).

The hot rodding party got started early in the week with the annual Gary Meadors Memorial Hot Rod Week. Road tours rolled out of Pleasanton Tuesday towards Contra Costa County followed by the Central Valley area on Wednesday with visits at cool collections, shops and taking in the California vistas.

Thursday featured a poker run around Pleasanton making stops at D&D Fabrication, Mike Maier, Inc. and Fastlane Relics with a final stop at the Meadowlark Dairy, a Pleasanton institution. Hot Rod Week is always a good time and a great way to get geared up for the show.

Friday’s cool morning air was warmed up with the sounds of hot rods and muscle cars roaring to life as they rolled into the beautiful Alameda County Fairgrounds. The day turned into an absolutely perfect Bay Area day with mild temps to wander the grounds and take in the classic cars including three special indoor shows featuring 60 years of Chevelles, a Racecar display and another building packed with cars of the 30s.

There was also plenty of racing action on the CPP AutoCross track as racers made laps to get their cars dialed in to qualify for the Wilwood Brakes West Coast Shootout on Saturday afternoon. There were also aisles of parts in the swap meet not to mention rows of top manufacturers spread out around the facility.

We’re excited to see which rides will earn a Builder’s Choice Top 10 award from the team at Roseville Rod & Custom and who will go home with one of our six regional BASF Top 12 finalist honors, not to mention which cars and trucks will be selected for more than 75 other awards and picks.

If you’re in the area, it’s going to be an incredible weekend in Pleasanton packed with Cool Cars, Cool People and Goodguys times. If you can’t make it out, be sure to follow Goodguys on Facebook and Instagram for updates and posts all weekend long – we’ll be back Monday morning with a recap from the West Coast Nationals!
