No Opposition – Kevin Svarda’s Deuce Roadster

If you follow Kevin Svarda’s Opposing Cylinders social media channels, you can tell he knows his hot rods and vintage rides. His personal Deuce roadster built by Lo-Man Rods is further evidence of Kevin’s good taste.

This classic-style highboy is built on a foundation from well-known hot rod name: Pete & Jakes. Outfitted with a dropped and drilled front axle, hairpin radius rods, So-Cal front disc brakes, and a 9-inch rearend on ladder bars, the chassis delivers a just-right stance on Wheelsmith 16- and 18-inch steel wheels wrapped in Firestone 4.50-16 and 7.00-18 bias ply rubber from Coker Tire. Those rear tires will easily go up in smoke courtesy of the Blueprint Engines 383c.i. stroker small-block Chevy fed by a single Holley four-barrel carb, breathing through block-hugger headers, and backed by a 700R4 overdrive transmission.

The roadster body came from Adams Hot Rod Shop and features 2-inch lengthened doors for easier entry, plus fantastic fit and quality. Lo-Man Rods gets credit for the bodywork and beautiful dark blue PPG paint. Inside the cockpit, Speed & Design stitched the classic-style black leather upholstery, while the dash was fitted with Classic Instruments and the column was topped with a Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop steering wheel.

With time-tested parts and plenty of road-proven miles, Kevin’s blue beauty shows why certain classic hot rod formulas never go out of style.
