Friday First Look! Goodguys 26th Colorado Nationals presented by Griot’s Garage
It’s great to be back in the Mile High State to see all our Rocky Mountain hot rodding friends for the Goodguys 26th Colorado Nationals presented by Griot’s Garage. Friday was a beautiful day at The Ranch Events Complex with a view of the great plains to the east and the mountains out to the west, but our focus was on all the cool cars and trucks cruising and hanging out at the Ranch. And this was just day one!
The hot rodding weekend kicked off Thursday morning as a group of cruisers got together for a run up to WyoTech in Laramie, Wyoming. The students at the school welcomed all the rodders in with a tour of the facility and it was a hoot to talk to the students and staff – the future of our hobby is going to be in good hands (dirty fingernails and all).
Friday kicked off with a beautiful, cool morning as classic trucks, customs, street rods and muscle machines rumbled into the Ranch complex. It didn’t take long for the manicured grass and paths to be filled with cool cars and cool people ready for good times!
Across the complex there was there was non-stop action on the CPP AutoCross track as racers honed their skills and vehicle setup to be at their peak for the Great Western Shootout that takes place Saturday afternoon. There was also the roar of exhibition vintage dragsters burning nitro at the Summit Racing Nitro Thunderfest
A stroll through the swap meet on Friday is mandatory to either get a jump on a part or project at a good deal, or to circle back later in the weekend to haggle a bit. Griot’s Garage, Grundy Insurance, Gennie Shifter, and Revision Rods & Rides were all on hand to answers questions and show off their latest products and projects.
It was a pretty awesome first day and it wasn’t done as when the show was closing for the night, the party was just getting started just down the street at Pinkee’s Rod Shop and Mash Lab Brewery for their rockin’ TGIF hootenany!
Stay tuned to our social media channels throughout the weekend for more content and check back here Sunday night for the full Weekend Rewind including the Builders Choice Top 10 chosen by Eric Peratt of Pinkee’s Rod Shop and to see the Finalists for the Goodguys Top 12 of the Year including Muscle Car, Truck Early, Muscle Machine and GM’s Iron awards – and so much more.
