Diving Deeper into Goodguys All-American Sunday
Like baseball, apple pie, and jazz music, hot rodding is a phenomenon with all-American roots. That’s one of the reasons Goodguys celebrates all years of American-built and American-powered hot rods during our All-American Sunday events presented by Spectre Performance. These special Sundays are hosted at each Goodguys national event, and we also bring this all-American spirit to both days of the three Goodguys Get-Togethers (All-American, Summer, and Autumn) held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
All-American Sunday allow enthusiasts of later-model (post-1987) American performance vehicles and hot rods to get in on the Goodguys event action. They can participate in the show-and-shine, test their skills and agility on the AutoCross course, and enjoy all the other Goodguys activities. There is even a special selection of awards reserved for All-American Sunday participants.
The past three decades have definitely brought about a rebirth of the “factory hot rod,” with Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs all reaching new heights in horsepower and all-around performance, not to mention the return of the Dodge Challenger and Charger, plus a whole new genre of performance-based trucks. Things have especially ramped up in the past decade, with amazing American performance offerings you can buy right off the showroom floor. Goodguys All-American Sunday provides a perfect outlet for showing off this late-model muscle, and All-American Sunday AutoCross even gives you a chance to put that performance to the test!
You’ll also find a great selection of American-powered imports during All-American Sunday. There’s plenty of hot rod history that has come from stuffing big American power into small import packages – just think Shelby Cobra or Anglia Gasser. That same spirit still happens, as evidenced by 2018’s All-American Sunday AutoCross class champion, Richard Trujillo’s LS-powered Porsche, or David Carroll’s LS-powered Datsun 280Z, which was the 2018 AutoCross Street Machine class champion. And have you seen the incredible LS-powered Mercedes that has hit the circuit this year?
From late-model performers to engine-swapped bruisers, All-American Sunday presented by Spectre Performance offers a fresh flavor of hot rodding. It’s a welcome addition to Goodguys event weekends, and we invite all rodders with American-made or American-powered machines to come out and join in the fun!
