Weekend Rewind! Goodguys 16th LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals presented by Old Air Products

The flag has dropped, the light is green, and the 2026 Goodguys event season has officially launched! That’s right, folks! We revved our engines, dropped the clutch, and put the pedal to the metal this weekend in Fort Worth to kick off another season of Good Times at the 16th LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals presented by Old Air Products at Texas Motor Speedway.

It was an earlier launch this year, as we moved these Fort Worth festivities back to the first weekend in March rather than the late-April dates we used the past couple years. We also decided to try a two-day Friday-and-Saturday format. And while the vibe was positive and the enthusiasts who participated were revved and ready for a fun time, Mother Nature did throw us a curveball. The weather on Friday defied forecasts and gave us comfortable temperatures and a mix of sun and clouds that was perfect for cruising the TMS infield. Saturday, on the other hand, delivered gray skies, rain, and much cooler air. Despite the damp conditions, though, there were plenty of dedicated rodders who persevered and made the most of this Good Time gathering.

Thanks to the strong title sponsorship from LMC Truck – not to mention the Texas venue – there were plenty of trick trucks and hot haulers in attendance. They cruised the whole facility, but were the center of attention in the LMC Truck Ultimate Truck Showcase area, which showcased a wide range of pickups, SUVs, and other trucks, in addition to related vendors.

Naturally, Goodguys had the schedule packed with fun activities for all kinds of vehicles and enthusiasts. Besides the usual showin’ and shinin’, there were dozens of vendors both inside and out, a sizeable swap meet happening on the road course portion of the track, plenty of cruising, and even some heads-up, side-by-side drag racing taking place on pit road. Live music and the Auto World Family Fun Zone delivered more diversions, and we hosted our customary Track Cruise on Friday evening to finish off the first day.

Even with a shortened Saturday, we were still able to find and recognize dozens of award winners for the weekend. This included several exceptional rides as finalists for the Top 12 Awards presented by BASF. On that list were Doyle Thomas’s ’57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham as the Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year finalist; Terry Rose’s ’59 Chevy Suburban as the LMC Truck of the Year Early finalist; Dennis Mayfield’s ’70 F100 as the Dakota Digital Truck of the Year Late finalist; and Ben Salazar’s ’71 GMC K10 as the Roadster Shop 4×4 of the Year finalist. The media team tapped Wayne Davis’s ’51 Ford F1 for the Fuel Curve Truck Pick, and Mike Kilen’s ’36 Ford roadster as the Goodguys Feature Pick.

Saturday’s soggy conditions confined the Goodguys AutoCross Series action to Friday and prevented the running of Saturday’s Speedtech Performance Lone Star Shootout. We still witnessed plenty of great racing, though, with class and shootout wins credited to Robby Unser in the Speedtech Performance PRO-X class; Charles Davis in Summit Racing PRO; Patrick Layden in the Forgeline Street Machine class; Andrew Chenoweth in the Corvette class; and Rob MacGregor in the No Limit Engineering Truck class.

Yes, springtime in Texas – or almost anywhere, for that matter – can be a little unpredictable. And while we can’t control the weather, we can influence our attitudes and choose to have a good time, no matter what the thermometer says or what the skies do. We’re grateful for all the hearty hot rodders who came out and joined us for the fun times in Fort Worth and helped us launch our latest season of Goodguys Good Times!
