Weekend Rewind! 20th Classic Performance Products Great Northwest Nationals

Goodguys brightened up the scenery in Spokane, Washington this weekend by attracting a colorful array of fine rides for the 20th Classic Performance Products Great Northwest Nationals! This long-running event moved to mid-June this year to help jumpstart the summer cruising season in this region, and rodders responded by rolling in, showing off, and enjoying a fun-filled weekend of Goodguys Good Times.

Following a scenic and enjoyable Thursday hot rod cruise and shop crawl, rodders shook off a few early raindrops on Friday to spread out on the grounds of the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center, setting the stage for a laid-back weekend of showin’, shinin’, and hanging out with fellow friends from the car community.

Saturday saw a steady-building crowd of both cars and spectators. The Saturday Specialty Parking Areas were bustling, as was the Builder’s Choice area, which the Goodguys awards team scoured (along with the indoor car show) for worthy Builder’s Choice Top 10 contenders. We put together a solid lineup of winners, if we do say so ourselves.

We also selected a finalist for Snap-on Muscle Car of the Year – Phil Mitchell’s ’67 Camaro, the first-ever Yenko 427 Camaro ever built! The Chevrolet Performance GM Iron Builder of the Year finalist spot went to Whipple Motorsports for Don and Judy Smith’s ’39 Chevy coupe. And the Gazette crew picked Tony DeMarco’s Model A sedan for the Goodguys Feature Pick.

The three-day event weekend was filled with all kinds of fun sights, activities, and diversions. Beyond the cool cars and trucks showing off both outside and in, we had three Nitro Thunderfest hits from Lady Elaine’s Nostalgia Funny Car and nitro-fed dragster, plus a smokin’ Saturday Burnout Competition with a trio of strong contestants. There was also a Swap Meet filled with cool finds, a variety of vendors showcasing great products and services, fun activities for the kids, live music, and much more.

Of course, the best part was getting out and cruising, seeing old friends, and meeting new ones. That’s what Goodguys events are all about – bringing car-crazy people together for four-wheeled fun. Thanks to everyone who came out to join us for the Goodguys Good Times in Spokane. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!
