Goodguys Top 7 on display at 23rd Southwest Nationals
There’s no doubt 2020 has been an unusual year, and that extends to most of the Goodguys Top 7 “Of the Year” awards selected in 2020. While Goodguys was able to host the Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year and PPG Street Machine of the Year competitions at the Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals in July, other event-specific awards ran into detours.
- 2020 Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year – Nathan Powell’s 1932 Ford
- 2020 PPG Street Machine of the Year – Chris McPhie’s 1969 Camaro
The Goodguys team ultimately decided to use an online entry and evaluation process to determine four of its “Of the Year” awards for 2020, including Street Rod Headquarters Custom of the Year, March Performance Street Rod d’Elegance, Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year, and BASF America’s Most Beautiful.
- 2020 Street Rod Headquarters Custom of the Year – Jeff Hess’ 1956 Olds
- 2020 March Performance Street Rod d’Elegance – Dave Gonzales’ 1935 Ford
- 2020 Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year – Norman Bradley’s 1932 Ford
- 2020 BASF America’s Most Beautiful – Bob Matranga’s 1955 Chevy
The final Top 7 Goodguys award for 2020 will be the FAST AutoCrosser of the Year which will be decided by the winner of the Duel in the Desert shootout held Saturday afternoon at the 23rd Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals presented by Barrett-Jackson on November 20-22 in Scottsdale, AZ.
