12 Cars of Christmas – #12 Todd Ray’s 1957 Chevy Wagon

Editor’s Note: We’re getting into the Holiday Spirit this year! Sometimes the littlest things can bring a big smile to your face, and that’s exactly where this 12 Cars of Christmas idea came from. I was scrolling through some of my favorite social media outlets and Christmas-inspired hot rods kept popping up in my feed. I decided to reach out to some of these owners, do a little investigating on my own, and bring you (in no specific order) 12 Cool Cars that really took the holiday festivities to another level!

12 Cars of Christmas – #12

The patina trend isn’t for everyone, but I personally dig it for a “driver” where you’re not too worried about rock chips and door dings, or in Todd Ray’s case (@toddray67 on Instagram)…freshly cut tree branch scratches, sticky sap, and shredded tire rubber.

During the first weekend of December this year, Todd and his wife Kyle, along with their daughters Hazel and Cora, and their pup Copper loaded up in their ’57 Chevy Wagon to go cut down a tree. The 6-liter LS engine backed with a 4L80 transmission made the trip from California’s Bay Area up to the mountains with ease. RideTech suspension and a mostly TMI-finished interior provided long-haul comfort. On the way home, the drag racer in Todd couldn’t keep quiet any longer and a long smoky burnout was in order for a cool Instagram post. Cool indeed…we score it a solid 10!

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
