Serious Articulation, Lift and Fitment with TCI’s New 4×4 Blazer Chassis
We are well aware of Ontario, California, based Total Cost Involved for their proven bolt-on suspension systems and performance handling chassis. As the company winds down their 50th year in the hot rodding aftermarket, they just introduced their first four-wheel drive chassis – the new Pro1 4×4 Blazer Chassis!
The Pro1 has been designed specifically for the ’69 – ’72 K5 Blazer as a direct replacement. All cab, floor, core support, engine, transmission, and bumper bracketry are included. The Chassis is built using their new Triple Wall Frame Rails rails which features a third vertical wall down the middle of the frame rails providing additional torsional rigidity.
TCI also widened the front half of the frame to provide additional steering and header clearance with late model engine platforms in mind that will be equipped with a driver-side output Atlas Transfer Case. Maximized length link bars provide minimal wheelbase change throughout travel and have the added benefit of limiting roll steer and the coilover angle is close to vertical to keep the motion ratio close to 1:1 and mounts as wide as possible for maximum roll control.
TCI partnered with RockJock for readily available replacement steering components which includes a Borgeson steering box, RockJock high steer outer knuckles, forged tie rods, and front hubs based on the Jeep JL (’18-present) platform. Crucial steering angles and tie rod lengths were carefully designed to keep the bump steer in check and minimize lateral movement. They also worked with Currie to use their beefy High Pinion Currie 44 front and Currie 60 axles equipped with heavy duty axle tubes, yokes, chromoly axles, & U-joints provide the strength equal to the new chassis.
