First Gen S10 Gauges from Classic Instruments Deliver Precision with Improved Looks
With the popularity of GM’s Square Body and OBS model trucks off the charts, it should come as no surprise that we’re seeing more of the Bowtie’s S10 platform getting built and modified these days. The S10 was GM’s first mini truck, second if you count the Isuzu made Luv truck of the ‘70s, and are a perfect canvass for LS swaps, brake upgrades and other performance goodies – such as Classic Instruments’ new Direct-Fit S10 Gauges.
Classic’s all-electric instrument cluster, designed for ’82-’85 models, features a speedometer, tachometer, fuel, oil, temp, and volt gauges in either an OE style or their Velocity White face style. It also features a digital OLED odometer with trip meter and optional digital speed readout.
The S10 gauges feature Hybrid Lighting, meaning the dials have been updated to provide full backlighting with soft halo perimeter lights, improving nighttime visibility while maintaining a classic look. Additional light features include indicators for the parking brake, check engine, high beam, shift lights, turn signals, and there’s an integrated LED dimmer.
The Speedometer uses Classic’s integrated Zeus Speedometer Technology, which eliminates the need for external control boxes and allows the cluster to work directly with ECM or VSS signals. The tach also accepts signals from a standard distributor triggered ignition or for coil-per-cylinder applications and the fuel gauges is easy to program for the stock sending unit or other aftermarket senders.
The S10 gauges are also supplied with: a wiring harness, sending units for oil and temp, a push-button for calibration, and built-in ECM signal filter switch to remove signal noise for smoother speedometer operation. The S10 gauges are designed to utilize the customers’ existing diffuser and lens.
This new ’82-’85 Chevy S-10 truck cluster from Classic Instruments is made in the USA and can be purchased direct or through any one of its authorized dealers or at Holley.
