Provost Customs Delivers on a Custom 1966 Chevy C10 that turns others Green with Envy

It would be easy to dust off a gaggle of tired nicknames to give to this ’66 Chevy C10 pickup that belongs to Todd Hoos. The Hulk, the Green Machine, or Aqua Man would all fit perfectly. But Todd’s Chevy, built by Provost Customs, isn’t so easily pigeonholed. When it was selected as a finalist for the 2025 Dakota Digital Truck of the Year Late, the winter mint green hauler felt more like a breath of fresh air.1966 Chevy C10 Provost Customs

As so often happens in the hot rod hobby, Todd bought the truck in 2015 with the goal of buffing up the old girl to be a fun weekend cruiser. Before long, project creep set in and seven years later the truck emerged mean and beyond buffed up, with a fresh coat of green paint as deep as the sea.

Todd and his wife Yesenia live in Livermore, California with their three kids. Retired from law enforcement, Todd is living his golden years with his family in the West Coast sunshine. Together with builder Provost Customs, they dreamed up the slick truck you see here.

Starting with the factory frame, they installed Choppin’ Block front and rear air spring suspension assemblies to deliver the desired rocker-scraping stance. Big meaty Wilwood binders were added and huge Intro wheels (22×8.5 up front and 22×10 in the rear) wearing sticky Toyo rubber that now reside inside the massage fenders.

A lovingly massaged and tweaked 350hp 5.7 LS1 is the heartbeat of this Chevy. The mill takes a deep gulp of fuel and air from an LS6 intake and Holley fuel injection system, and it breathes out through Hooker headers and a Magnaflow exhaust. A Champion Radiator keeps things cool under the collar and a 4L60E transmission handles shifting chores.

Provost Customs did all metal work, which included shaving the cowl, turn signals, and drip rails, and filling in the rear pan. Prime Time Customs smoothed out the metal and sprayed the truck out in barrels of Valspar Sage Green paint.

The cockpit is now a palette of gray, green, and wood tones. Snowden custom seats, a Billet Specialties steering wheel, and a late-model Chevy console update the LBJ-era cabin. Vintage Air, Lokar handles, and Dakota Digital gauges add modern comfort unheard of back in the day, with brown leather upholstery offering contemporary class. 1966 Chevy C10 Provost Customs

Todd says he is happiest driving the truck and attending car shows with his grandson Michael by his side. He told Goodguys, “I also want to give a shout out to Provost Customs for their expertise, skill, and the final product they delivered. The crew made the experience smooth and easy from beginning to finish.”
