Mickey Thompson Expands Baja Boss X “Sticky Mickey” Line with New 42” Sizes
Vintage four-wheel drive trucks and early versions of today’s SUVs continue to grow in popularity in the hot rodding industry. We’re seeing more early Broncos and Blazers, Scouts, Travelalls and other cool, classic rigs being lifted and built to the equivalent of restomodded muscle cars. When we saw these new meats from Mickey Thompson, it was just something that needed to be shared!
Following the recent success of new 42-inch sizes in its Baja Boss M/T line, Mickey Thompson is introducing two 42” sizes in its Baja Boss X Extreme Terrain tire line. Built with Mickey Thompson’s “Sticky Mickey” compound and PowerPly™ Pro construction, these new sizes will provide the undisputed off-road traction that competitive off-road racers have come to expect from Mickey Thompson.
A non-D.O.T. certified extreme terrain tire, the Baja Boss X line was first introduced in 2020 with impressive traction and durability. Ben Anderson, Sr. Product Manager, Light Truck and Off-road, commented, “Mickey Thompson isn’t the type of company to rest on our laurels. From the moment we launched the Baja Boss X, we asked for continuous feedback from competitive off-road racers who push these tires to their limits. The result is a tire that delivers podium-worthy performance and the durability that enthusiasts expect from our brand.”
These two new sizes, 42×13.50R17LT and 42×13.50R20LT, expand the product line to include a total of four in-demand sizes. Features include:
- Sticky Competition Compound for the ultiate off-road traction
- Extra large four-pitch Sidebiters for unparalleled off-road traction
- Powerply XD adds an extra thick denier cord to the angled third ply providing better puncture resistance, quicker steering response and greater stability
- Stone Ejector Ribs prevent gravel from being wedged into tread grooves
- This tire is not D.O.T. Certified
These new sizes are slated to be available for purchase at the beginning of the new year. Please note that they are not D.O.T. certified so they’re not approved for on-road use…but they’d look bitchin’ on a show rig!
