Goodguys Nashville Nationals

Kickoff Memorial Day Weekend with Goodguys in Nashville!

Come celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with Goodguys in Nashville this year at the return of the 15th BASF Nashville Nationals event! The Music City is a highlight on the Goodguys schedule every year, and 2021 is shaping up to be a barnburner return!

If you’ve never attended the Goodguys Nashville Nationals event, let 2021 be the year that you do. When it comes to a “destination event”, it’s a tough one to top. The event is held in the exterior parking lot of Nissan Stadium which is home to the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. The Cumberland River separates the event from Downtown Nashville’s Broadway Street where you’ll find live music day & night in just about every bar, delicious restaurants, great shopping, and historical landmarks. The best part? There’s a walking bridge from the event over the Cumberland River which places you at the base of Broadway Street!

Highlighting the event happenings will be the crowing of the first Goodguys Top 12 title for the 2021 season – the Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year award. We’re anticipating a strong showing of new builds that have been lying in wait during the 2020 year. We ran a story breaking down the Hot Rod of the Year process last week, but to reiterate the high points: you need to be at the event Friday morning no later than 9am and be ready for a 100-mile reliability run.

For those familiar with the Nashville event, we will be back to the “front” of the stadium this year in the normal location and event layout. The CPP AutoCross Series will also be back at its usual lot underneath the walking bridge, and the rest of the event will look much of the same as far as general parking, Saturday Special Parking areas, vendor booths, and cruise lanes go. The only major change is that there will be no “indoor” vendor booths underneath the stadium.

In addition to the Hot Rod of the Year Top 12 award being chosen at this event, regional finalist for other Top 12 awards will be selected for the Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year, Billet Specialties Muscle Car, Griot’s Garage Muscle Machine, and Scott’s Hotrods Truck of the Year Early. Bobby Alloway with Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop will be selecting the Top 10 Builders Choice awards at this event. Bobby knows how to build great hot rods, so a pick from him carries a lot of clout!

We’ll wrap things up with the Meguiar’s All American Sunday where those late model (post-1988) American-made or American-powered rides are welcomed into the fold for the show and AutoCross racing action. We’ll also crown the winner of the 2021 Hot Rod of the Year title during Sunday’s awards ceremony.

Come join us in Nashville next weekend May 28-30, 2021 for some Goodguys Good Times! Click Here for more event information, to register your ride, or to purchase spectator tickets. Vehicle registrations and spectator tickets will also be sold at-event.

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
