The Inaugural Reun10n Classic Truck Show
With the ever-growing rise of popularity of C10’s and classic trucks in general, it’s not surprising to see more truck-specific events popping up across the country. Anyone on social media can verify such a statement. The newest and much anticipated show, The Reun10n Classic Truck Show, was held on April 9th, 2022 in historic downtown Chandler, Arizona.
The Reun10n was spawned by Truck Talk Media pioneer and C10 Talk host Ronnie Wetch along with fellow C10 guru Sam Castronova. The show’s birth happened rather quickly in actuality. Sam and Ronnie felt there was a strong need and desire to have a classic truck show in the springtime in Arizona to compliment Dino’s Git Down in the Fall. The weather is generally outstanding in April and the Southwest is a hotbed crawling with custom trucks.
Being this was the Reun10n’s inaugural event and coming from promoters like Ronnie and Sam, one would think this would be a Chevy-only show. Well, you would be mistaken. The event welcomed anything with a tailgate – lifted, slammed, full size, or mini trucks including SUV’s and van’s. The show featured everything from six-figure high dollar builds to your local high-schoolers project truck, and everything in between.
What set this truck show apart from many others was its unique venue. The show trucks were staged within a 5-story parking garage. Two spaces per truck were allocated so vehicles weren’t parked as though it looked like you took your bagged truck to work that day. Another added benefit of the parking garage was the ample shade it provided that was a welcomed benefit during the sun filled day.
Outside the parking garage was even more goodness with a bunch of show vendors, food trucks, a DJ playing tunes all day, face painting for the little ones (and some adults, too) as well as a large lot with even more show trucks sprawled across the lush grass.
For anyone that knows Ronnie or has listened to his C10 Talk podcast, knows his favorite saying is: “The Trucks are Cool, but the People are Cooler”. That’s exactly what The Reun10n was all about. Hanging out with friends and making new ones. Admiring one’s truck while still building yours in your head. Celebrating a common sheet metal bond that will last a lifetime.
Plans are already in the works to make next year’s Reun10n event even bigger. Dates have not been set but know that the people that made this 2022 event a reality will not disappoint in 2023. Shout-out to LMC Truck for being the title sponsor as well as U.S. Mags and Accuair for being supporting sponsors of the event.
