Hennessey Exorcist Camaro, Trouble Spelled with a Capital C
1,000 Horsepower Camaro ZL1 by Hennessey Performance
Stealing the Dodge Challenger Demon’s thunder is a 1,000 horsepower supercharged upgraded “Hennessey Exorcist Camaro” ZL1, tuned by Hennessey Performance, just days before the hyper-powered Challenger’s NY Auto Show debut.
The range of modifications to the ZL1 is extensive. Ported factory cylinder heads, upgraded camshaft, long tube stainless steel headers, high-flow air induction, and custom engine management calibration team up with a higher flowing supercharger and intercooler system to deliver the extraordinary numbers.
The 4-wheeled demon-killer can blaze past 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and cover a quarter mile in 10 seconds – or maybe less – when setup with rear drag radial tires.
Wearing a modest boot spoiler, black multi-spoke alloys and a gorgeous red three-line stripe complete with its own name over the rear wheel arches, The Exorcist is, in its makers’ own words, ‘built to cast out demons’.
It might come from a Texan tuner, but The Exorcist can be ordered from Chevrolet dealers like a regular production model. Alternatively, current ZL1 owners are able to send their cars to Hennessey for the upgrade, but the conversion doesn’t come cheap either way. Just be prepared to shell out $55k and another $62k for the donor car. That translates to a total of $117k for THE EXORCIST Camaro ZL1’s base model package.
Hennessey will be offering two optional packs as well on top of this.
The Drag Pack, which costs $8,995, comes with 20-inch wheels shod with 315/30R20 Nitto drag radial tires, upgraded driveshaft, floor jack, and tool kit. The Road Race Pack is a bargain at $6,995 and comes packed with 20-inch lightweight Hennessey wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Just 100 examples will be built for each model year and will probably be snapped up pretty quick. Now it’s Dodge SRT’s turn to retaliate and it’ll need a power figure close to that of the EXORCIST or a price tag that is a lot more affordable.
