Goolsby Customs Youngguys Program Showcases Next-Generation Builders in 2019

Goodguys Rod & Custom Association founder, Gary “Goodguy” Meadors always said “get the kids off their computers, away from TVs and out in the garage building something…cars are where it’s at.” The Goolsby Customs Youngguys program is fueling that same thought and moving into its fourth year by offering a platform for young enthusiasts (25 and younger) to showcase their talents at every Goodguys event in 2019.

The Goolsby Customs specialty parking area will be held on Saturday from 7am to noon at each event. Everyone who wants to participate in the Youngguys program will park their registered car or truck in the area, receive a special window card to be filled out as well as a unique dash plaque. At noon on Saturday, two finalists will be selected from the area and will be photographed for the social media voting to begin.

The final best-of-three voting to decide a winner will be factored by social media having one vote (people’s choice), Goodguys having one vote and Goolsby Customs having one vote. The social media voting will close on Sunday at noon.

The qualifications are simple: You must be 25 or younger and have done most of the work on the build. That’s it. The overall winner that is selected from each event will be Goodguys Goolsby Customs Youngguys award winner and will park in the winners’ circle on Sunday and receive a custom-built award from Jonathan Goolsby during the awards ceremony.

All event winners for the season will then have a chance for the final grand prize – a trip to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on November 5-8, 2019 to have their vehicle displayed in the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association’s booth in Hot Rod Alley. The final winner who gets to go to SEMA will be selected from the group of Youngguys award winners between the 2018 Colorado Nationals (September 5-7, 2018) through the 1st Grundy Insurance Great American Nationals held on August 16-18, 2019 in York, PA.

When asked what makes the Youngguys program so enjoyable, Jonathan Goolsby / owner of Goolsby Customs says “Everything! It’s amazing meeting the young adults and hearing their stories, new ideas, and seeing the passion they bring to the industry.”

“These guys and gals are the future of hot rodding and it’s great to work with them to keep it alive. I remember doing whatever it took…late nights, no sleep, and spending every dollar just to make the next show. I still do that now!” Goolsby continued.

Goodguys and Goolsby Customs will provide transportation of the car to and from the SEMA Show, plus hotel accommodations and airfare.
