Friday First Look! Goodguys 34th Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals
Hey, baby, it’s the Fourth of July! And if you’re a hot rodder or car enthusiast, there’s no better way to celebrate your independence than with thousands of other gearheads at the Goodguys 34th Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals! This is a star-spangled, fuel-injected, chrome-plated automotive tradition like no other, and we kicked it off with a fantastic Friday at the Iowa State Fairgrounds!
It was a picture-perfect summer day here in Des Moines – sunny, warm, and brimming with potential. In other words, a perfect day for cruising! There were fine rides making the loop around the fairgrounds all day long, and thousands more parked and showing off throughout the facility. If cars and trucks are symbols of independence, then the freedom factor here was off the charts!
We had tons of great activities to help celebrate the holiday, as well. We’re talking about old-time, Midwestern fun like an apple pie baking contest, a watermelon eating contest, and even a pinup girl competition! The Goodguys AutoCross racers were also hitting the course hard, we had dragsters firing up at the Nitro Thunderfest, and dozens of vendor booths to visit.
There’s much more in store for the rest of this American holiday weekend, with two more full days of Cool People, Cool Cars, and Good Times at the Heartland Nationals! So, make your way down here if you’re anywhere close, or stay tuned to FuelCurve.com and our social media channels for a taste of this midsummer mechanical tradition!
