Friday First Look! Goodguys 33rd Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals
Who’s ready for some big-time hot rod fun in Texas! Goodguys kicked off two days of fall festivities today at the 33rd Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. After multiple days of serious rain in the region, we enjoyed a comfortable and dry Friday as we brought together cool cars and trick trucks under wide Texas skies.
This long-running autumn event has taken on even more prominence in recent years by being home to two Goodguys Top 12 Of The Year Awards presented by Surventis. This includes the Surventis 2026 Most Bitchin’ honor, plus the final competition for the Griot’s Garage Muscle Machine of the Year title. The Muscle Machine competition brings together multiple regional finalists for a Friday reliability run, which includes a road trip, a few laps around Eagles Canyon Raceway road course, additional runs on the Goodguys AutoCross track, and drag race runs on the TMS pit road. That’s a lot of action!
One additional Muscle Machine finalist will be named on Saturday, and Goodguys will also announce the five Surventis Most Bitchin’ finalists before noon. This will give everyone at the show a few hours to speculate on which vehicles will be announced as winners during the Lone Star Nationals awards ceremony at 3:33.
There’s a lot more happening beyond these two major awards, though. A Texas-sized selection of hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, trucks, and more are showing off and cruising around the TMS infield, and owners even had the opportunity to make some laps around the high-banked oval this evening. Harold Chapman and his team from Customs and Hot Rods of Andice will be selecting Builder’s Choice Top 10 award winners on Saturday, while Goodguys will hand out dozens of other awards and picks. There are also scores of vendors showing off their wares, the Summit Racing Super Shopping Experience, a big Swap Meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral to browse, family fun activities, Shorty’s Lowrider Showcase, Goodguys AutoCross action, and much more to take in and enjoy.
The action is being compressed into two days this year, so get yourself down to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday if you want to experience it for yourself. And stay tuned to Goodguys social media and FuelCurve for more updates from the weekend, including announcements of the big winners!
