Friday First Look! Goodguys 31st Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals Presented by BASF

We’re lighting the fuse on Independence Day 2022 with the Goodguys 31st Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals presented by BASF in Des Moines, Iowa! We’ve already had a full day of good times here at the Iowa State Fairground and we’ve got a jam-packed schedule of car-crazy American fun planned to make the most of this holiday weekend!

True to tradition, we got a jumpstart on the weekend with a Thursday Poker Run that caravanned participants around Des Moines to a cool collection of shops and stops. This year’s tour took us to Off The Line Performance, Carnock Creations, Power Performance, and Karl Kustoms, making for a great afternoon of cruising and camaraderie.

The energy picked right up again this morning, with thousands of great hot rods, customs, muscle cars, classics, cruisers, trucks, and more rolling into the fairgrounds and finding spots to show off. A few brief morning showers didn’t faze these diehard gearheads – people just kept cruisin’, catching up, and showing off until the sun came back out in the afternoon. There were countless cool cars and even more big smiles!

This is one Fourth of July tradition that just keeps getting better every year. And by the look of the activities on the first day, we just might have a record breaker on our hands. Watch the Goodguys and Fuel Curve social media this weekend for updates, and stay tuned for a full Weekend Rewind recap of this star-spangled, all-American weekend on Sunday!
