Friday First Look! Goodguys 25th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals Presented by FiTech Fuel Injection
It was a textbook SoCal coastal morning on Friday as classic cruisers rolled through the gates of the Del Mar Fairgrounds to claim a spot at the Goodguys 25th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals presented by FiTech Fuel Injection. This quarter-century hot rod tradition is one of our favorite weekends of the year and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic few days here at the beach north of San Diego!
We got things started on Thursday with our traditional Hot Rod Cruise hosted by the Over the Hill Gang car club, which took us to some cool and scenic spots around the greater San Diego area. By Friday morning, area rodders were ready to let the fun begin at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Once settled in and dusted off, there was plenty to check out including the always impressive Lowrider Palace as well as a new Mini-Truck Madness exhibit full of vintage So-Cal custom compact trucks inside and out.
After a stroll around through the packed manufacturer midway, many participants took advantage of the cruise lanes that snake through the fairgrounds to roll by the swap meet, Cars 4-Sale Corral, and check out the special Woodies on the Plaza gathering area. There was also a designated area for the cars in the running for Goodguys’ first at-event Top 12 of the Year award – the Meguair’s West Coast d’Elegance award. There was plenty of action to check out at the Goodguys Autocross track with racing taking place all three days, the Summit Racing Nitro Thunderfest, the Family Fun Zone where kids get a chance to romp a bit with free games then check a model car display.
It turned out to be classic Pacific Coast day with sun, low clouds, comfortable temps, and so many cool cars. The next two days bring even more Goodguys good times with a Lowrider Hopping contest, free model car Make and Take from Auto World, live entertainment and so much more! No matter what your taste, from traditional hot rods to classic customs, they’re all at the 25th Meguair’s Del Mar Nationals presented by FiTech EFI – hope you can make it out!
