Friday First Look! Goodguys 24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals presented by Barrett-Jackson

Goodguys is getting ready to wrap up the 2021 season in spectacular style here in Scottsdale, Arizona at the 24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals presented by Barrett-Jackson! The energy and excitement were positively palpable all day long during the Friday kickoff to this fantastic finale weekend and has us looking forward to even more automotive excitement as we cruise through the weekend.

Early bird enthusiasts helped us get things started with a laid-back Hot Rod Cruise around the Phoenix area on Thursday. Organized by Goodguys Rodders Reps, the drive took us to Phoenix Hotrod Company, a stop at Hughes Performance where we were served lunch in honor of the company’s 50th anniversary, and finally to RamJet’s Speed Shop – an old-school performance parts shop that Arizona rodders are lucky to have.

As the sun peeked over the mountains on Friday morning, participants and spectators were greeted by the spectacular Meguiar’s Top 12 award winners lined up outside the main tent of the event. These fine rides are the cream of the crop for 2021 – some of the amazing standouts we’ve seen in our travels during the season. They were joined by the Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year winners – Bobby Alloway and Roger Burman – plus our Goolsby Customs Next Generation winner for the year, Logan Adkins.

There’s one Top 12 spot still waiting to be filled – the CPP AutoCrosser of the Year title. This will be won by the victor in Saturday’s Duel in the Desert Shootout presented by Speedway Motors, LeCarra, and Optima Batteries. We’ve got all the heavy hitters from the Goodguys CPP AutoCross series here ready to duke it out between the cones and can’t wait to see who can claim the title at the end of the weekend.

With one day in the rearview mirror already, we still have plenty of fuel in the tank as we cruise through the next two days. There’s a massive vendor midway, huge swap meet, plus loads of activities like the Burnout Competition and Nitro Thunderfest on tap. Come join us if you can, as this looks to be a fall finale for the ages. And if you can’t make it to Scottsdale, be sure to tune in here for the Weekend Rewind on Sunday.
