Friday First Look! Goodguys 17th BASF Nashville Nationals

Hello, Tennessee! It’s time for a little Goodguys music, hot rod style! We kicked off the 17th BASF Nashville Nationals today as we prepare for a weekend of Good Times at Nashville Superspeedway. Located just outside of Nashville in Lebanon, Tennessee, the track, infield, and surrounding areas quickly filled up with the musical sounds of high-revving V8s and rumbling exhaust as hot rods, classics, muscle cars, trucks, and other vintage rides rolled in for three days of Goodguys fun.

Hundreds of rodders actually got a preview of what to expect Thursday night at Charlies Custom Creations in Murfreesboro, where they hosted a fun Kickoff Party filled with food, music, and tours of the shop. It was a great way to whet our appetite for a hot rod weekend.

Of course, it’s hot rods that take center stage at this event, as we host the annual competition for the Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year honor. More than 30 rowdy rides from all over the country showed up to compete and spent the day on a fun reliability run that traversed more than 150 miles around the area, with stops at cool shops, businesses, and Music City Raceway for some drag-strip action. It was a great day that we’ll showcase in more detail with a special Hot Rod of the Year highlight post tomorrow.

Back at the track, the cars and trucks were showin’ and cruisin’ as owners shined them up and showed ’em off. There was plenty of variety, as always, and some incredible quality to be found in so many of the builds. On the south side of the infield, Goodguys CPP AutoCross competitors stretched their legs on a longer, faster track that incorporates part of the facility’s road course.

There’s much more fun, energy, and excitement on tap for the rest of the weekend, including Nitro Thunderfest exhibitions, AutoCross racing, hundreds of vendors, a swap meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral, live music, and of course, thousands of cool cars and trucks to see. Come on out and join in the fun! Remember, Goodguys events happen rain or shine, and we’re not about to let the threat of a few raindrops dampen our fun. It’s gonna be a great weekend!
