Calistoga Speedway Hosts Dirt Classic Tomorrow Night

Calistoga Speedway’s legendary half mile dirt oval comes alive tomorrow night as over 80 sprint cars gather for the Dirt Classic. It promises to be a dirt-slingin’ barn burner with our Fuel Curve Sprint Car owned by Antaya Motorsports looking for a big win in the featured 410 class.

But the unquestioned highlight of the evening will be three-time NASCAR world champion Tony Stewart strapping into a 410 sprint car to compete among the best sprinters the west have to offer. He will be joined in competition by Ricky Stenhouse Jr current driver of the Roush Fenway Racing No 17 in Monster Energy Cup competition. Other NASCAR legends like Jeff Gordon are scheduled to appear at the event but Stewart and Stenhouse Jr will buckle the chinstrap and look to win the main event over King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Racing Series rivals.

Stewart is no stranger to the taxing half mile in Calistoga. He was USAC Open Wheel World Champion in both 1994 and 1995. Since retiring from NASCAR competition last year, Stewart has competed in several events but nothing of this magnitude.

Our Fuel Curve staff will be on hand throughout the entire evening to photograph the events, the competition, and the colorful characters. Our house car, the Antaya Motorsports 410 sprint car driven by Cory Eliason is a serious threat to win the whole shebang. Currently, Eliason is sitting 3rd in NARC King of the West Series points.

Tomorrow’s Dirt Classic is unique in that it will showcase both the winged 360 sprints in the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards and the 410 sprints in the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Racing Series. It is rare that two winged sprint car shows are featured in one event.
“We are excited to be working with David and Rico Abreu to extend the Dirt Classic brand across the country,” promoter Jarrod Adams said. “The Abreu’s are doing a fantastic job of promoting the sport of sprint car racing, both through their participation in the races and through their support of local tracks and events. We’re proud to be associated with them” said Adams.

The prize money? The winner of the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour 360 sprint event, presented by Abreu Vineyards will earn a staggering $10,000 prize while the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Racing Series event will pay $3,000 to win. Those are great payouts for a regional sprint car race, guaranteeing a fast and furious afternoon and evening of qualifying and racing.

Calistoga Speedway is located inside the Napa County Fairgrounds at 1435 N. Oak St., Calistoga, CA 94515. Qualifying kicks off at 4pm. More info here.
