Sights and Scenes from the 2024 Goodguys Hall of Fame Road Tour – Part 2
What a week! The Goodguys 2024 Hall of Fame Road Tour is in the books, and boy was it one epic road trip! Nearly 70 vintage rides and their owners and passengers explored the American West for six scenic days, September 9-14, venturing from the Black Hills of South Dakota to the mountains, hills, and open spaces of Idaho. We covered the first half of the journey in our Part 1 post last week, and we’re excited to showcase the second half here.
By Wednesday, we had made our way through Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park to Jackson, Wyoming. These destinations are so popular that we decided to stay two nights in Jackson. This allowed many tour participants to spend a full day in Yellowstone checking out the sights, and others to rest, regroup, and explore Jackson. Damp weather – including some snow at higher elevations – didn’t keep the group from enjoying the day in Yellowstone.
Friday morning dawned cool and clear as we left Jackson and crossed into Idaho, cruising through some beautiful scenery as we made our way to our first stop at the Legacy Flight Museum in Rexburg to check out an amazing array of airplanes and related displays. From there, most of the group made a fun stop at the Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot, before rolling into Blackbird Rods in Shelly, Idaho, for a shop tour, food, and an impromptu car show.
After staying the night in Idaho Falls, our final day of cruising found us embarking across southern Idaho to a stop at the otherworldly Craters of the Moon National Monument. It was a great place for some photo ops before we hit the road again for a stop at Bennyz Rod Shop in Hailey, Idaho, where they served up some lunch for our cruisers and allowed us to explore the projects in the shop.
One final trek across Idaho’s open spaces took us to our final destination of Boise. We first made a stop to visit our friend Kenny Welch at Kenny’s Rod Shop to check out all the cool projects being built there. And then, finally, it was time to head to our last hotels of the week and enjoy a final Beers & Gears parking lot gathering sponsored by Roseville Rod and Custom.
It’s an understatement to say this year’s tour was an incredible journey. It verged on epic, with some of the most amazing sights and scenery this country has to offer, not to mention a great group of people, cars, museums, collections, conversations, laughs, and more. We send a heartfelt thank you out to all the participants who made the Goodguys 2024 Hall of Fame Road Tour a truly special, can’t-miss event. And we send a special thank you to our friends at Speedway Motors for their generous support of this year’s tour.
