2022 Barrett-Jackson Cup Presented by eBay Motors Awards the “Ultimate Best in Show” to Immaculate 1936 Ford Roadster

The coveted Barrett-Jackson Cup “Ultimate Best in Show” winner was announced on Saturday from the 2022 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction block as part of the company’s celebration of 50 years of The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions. The winner, a 1936 Ford Roadster owned by Bob Johnson and built by Pinkee’s Rod Shop, was among five finalists that were hand-selected by expert judges – renowned hot rod builder Bobby Alloway and automobile designer and builder Troy Trepanier.

“I want to congratulate everyone who was a part of this year’s Barrett-Jackson Cup,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “The talent reflected in every custom vehicle that was entered into this year’s competition was simply outstanding. Each one is a true celebration of the craftmanship and vision that makes this hobby so exciting.”



Taking home the “Ultimate Best in Show,” $20,000 cash prize and other prizes, this 1936 Ford Roadster is powered by a 351ci Windsor mated to a TKO 5-speed transmission. Body modifications included the front fenders moved forward two inches and a more pronounced peak in the fender. The wheelbase was also stretched three inches, the windshield was chopped two inches and the top was chopped three inches. With a custom-crafted 4-piece hood with center hinge, this hot rod rides on one-off Curtis Speed wheels.

All 50 of the Barrett-Jackson Cup entries were featured during a parade across the world-famous auction block on Saturday, January 22, before the five finalists were selected and showcased throughout the nine-day event. In addition to the “Ultimate Best in Show” award, the Barrett-Jackson Cup also recognized the “People’s Choice Award,” voted on by Barrett-Jackson fans nationwide via social media. The 2022 “People’s Choice Award” was given to a 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie built and owned by Jason Graham Hot Rods from Portland, Tenn.
