2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE

2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Commands $70,000

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will almost certainly prove itself to be the most capable Camaro ever when it comes to road course performance, likely beating every Chevrolet around a turn shy of the C7 Corvette Z06. The Camaro ZL1 is powered by a 650 horsepower supercharged LT4 V8, making it the most powerful Camaro to date. Add the 1LE kit – billed by Chevy as an “extreme track package” – and the pony car becomes the most track-capable Camaro to date.

The new ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package (order code A1Z) will cost $7,500, bringing MSRP of the 2018 ZL1 1LE to $69,995, which includes the $995 destination freight charge. That is less than the old Z/28 for a car that has nearly 150 more horsepower.

“In the long, storied history of Camaro performance, there’s never been another model that matches the capability of the ZL1 1LE,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet cars and crossovers marketing director. “With the addition of the new 650-horsepower ZL1 1LE, the Camaro lineup is more diverse and exciting than ever, offering customers the ability to select and personalize their ultimate performance car.”

Compared to the ‘regular’ Camaro ZL1, the 1LE makes the muscle car even more track-oriented and incorporates a company of new aerodynamic components, including a large rear wing, and around GM’s 18-turn Milford Road Course test track, is three seconds faster than a ZL1 without the aerodynamic goodies.

Power comes from the automaker’s familiar 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine – the same mill used in the Corvette ZL1 – mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The key performance gains are made through the aforementioned carbon fiber rear wing, front canards and a bold splitter. The ZL1 1LE also benefits from lightweight Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers at all four corners.

If having 650 horsepower under your foot and spending 70-large on a ZL1 isn’t your cup of tea, the 1LE package is available as a factory option on the LS, LT, and SS coupes. Each 1LE package will be tailored specifically for the each model.
